FOUNDATION'S

Program

The Foundation provides bursaries (non-repayable grants) to medical graduate students with financial needs who have demonstrated their ability and interests to pursue post graduate studies in these specific domains.

The bursaries’ non-repayable grants provide financial assistance to cover the costs of traveling and living expenses for a three months’ stage in a Canadian university, research institute or laboratory involved in research in the domain of molecular biology and hematology.

SELECTION PROCESS

Identifying Applicants

Beneficiaries are medical graduates and graduates in biology who have demonstrated their ability and interests to pursue post graduate studies in the domains of molecular biology and hematology. The medical selection committee implements the merit-based criteria in its selection of applicants for the scholarship. Members of the medical scientific committee will suggest the most meritorious candidates. The selection committee meets twice a year to identify the bursary’s recipients.

The Foundation provides application packages directly to applicants investigating the website and/or via universities. Application package material is also available for download from this web site.

The

CONDITIONS

of Eligibility

An applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the bursary: Be a medical or biology postgraduate who has demonstrated ability and interest in pursuing studies or research in the fields of molecular and cellular hematology, Have obtained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) equivalent to an "A" for studies completed as a medical graduate or graduate in biology; Be accepted in a research project or the postgraduate studies in a Canadian University, research center or laboratory that isn't situated in his/her place of residence.

APPLICANT'S

Criteria

Completed an undergraduate degree in medicine and relevant field of biology;
Demonstrated exceptional merit without any regards to financial needs;
Demonstrated an interest for conducting research and practice in the domain of molecular biology and hematology and;
Submitted a complete application to the institution representative at the Canadian University, research center or laboratory, which copy is to be forwarded to the Foundation.

Notes:

The Foundation will grant the postgraduate students or researchers in molecular and cellular hematology the bursary to cover traveling or living expenses to pursue graduate studies or research in a Canadian university, research institute or laboratory. The bursary is fifteen thousand Canadian dollars ($15,000 CDN) and the Foundation intends to award up to three (3) bursary every year.

A committee of internationally recognized practitioners and researchers in Hematology will assess the applications and recommend their selection to the Board.
